Skill Development Initiatives by Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA)

Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) has been a steadfast supporter of community empowerment by sponsoring skill development programs for unemployed youth in Visakhapatnam and Alluri Sitarama Raju districts. These efforts align with the Sagarmala Project’s goal of holistic coastal community development.

Supporting Youth Employability through CSR

Under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) framework, VPA has allocated funds annually to nurture skills and create employment opportunities among underprivileged youth. Key milestones include:

  • 2022–23: ₹25 lakh sanctioned to train 100 youth from the Visakhapatnam district.
  • 2023–24: ₹64 lakh invested to empower 175 youth through specialized skill training programs in Visakhapatnam.
  • 2024–25: ₹26 lakh designated for a residential training program for 60 youth from Alluri Sitarama Raju district, alongside ₹56 lakh for training 200 youth from Visakhapatnam.

To date, VPA has supported the training of 535 youth, with over 80% of them successfully placed in relevant industries, showcasing VPA’s commitment to sustainable livelihood creation through focused CSR.

Training Programs Delivered by CEMS under the sponsorship of VPA for the fiscal year 2025-26

CEMS has been entrusted with the delivery of these skill development initiatives. The completed batches from Visakhapatnam district include:

  • Electrician Course: Successfully completed, with 23 out of 25 candidates placed at Cosphi Engineers Pvt. Ltd., Srikakulam.
  • Product Design Engineer Course: Completed with 21 out of 25 candidates placed at DesignTech Systems Pvt. Ltd. (Pune), Pennar Industries (Visakhapatnam & Hyderabad), and PNEU-Tech Industries (Chennai).

Currently, CEMS is conducting a batch for Logistics – Warehouse Executive, preparing participants for emerging industry roles.

The next batch for Assistant Electrician training is scheduled to commence in the third week of October 2025.
