Skill Development Activities Supported by V. O. Chidambaranar Port Authority
Background and Objectives
The Centre for Excellence in Maritime Studies (CEMS), in association with V. O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOCPA), has undertaken targeted skill development initiatives under the organization’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) framework to benefit youth residing in the Thoothukudi district. This initiative reflects VOCPA’s commitment to enhancing community employability and promoting sustainable socioeconomic growth within its operational regions and surrounding coastal communities.
FY 2025–26 Skill Development Activities under VOCPA CSR Sponsorship
Under VOCPA’s CSR sponsorship for the financial year 2025–26, CEMS is implementing skill development programs for 175 youth across seven diversified job roles:
- Courier Associate – Operations
- Supply Chain Executive
- Warehouse Executive
- EXIM Executive
- Domestic Data Entry Operator
- Welder
- CNC Operator
Each batch comprises 25 trainees, designed to address emerging industry requirements and the regional demand for skilled manpower.
As of this reporting period:
- The Domestic Data Entry Operator batch has been successfully completed, with 22 candidates placed in Flipkart warehouses in Chennai and with reputed companies in Tuticorin.
- Training programs for Welder, CNC Operator, EXIM Executive, and Warehouse Executive batches are currently in progress.
CEMS remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring high-quality training delivery, effective monitoring mechanisms, and strong placement linkages for all beneficiaries, in continued collaboration with VOCPA.
