Robotics Lab

Location: Vizag

The Robotics Laboratory would support test and automate systems and processes. The Robotics laboratory would serve as a full scale integrator of robotics and automation components, as well as simply prove the concept of automation within processes. Robots play an important role in the manufacturing industry, ensuring that the quality of the product is not compromised and the production volumes are met. In the Robotics Lab, we would be teaching the students to understand the working principles of a Robot, how to program it and use it to an application.

There would be four (4) robotic cells which would cater to different areas of manufacturing and fabrication in the shipbuilding industry: 

1. Pick and Place Cell

2. Robotic Plazma cutting Cell

3. Robotic Aluminium Welding

4. Robotic MIG Welding Cell with Online Seam Tracking

The Robotics Lab enables knowledge on: 

i. Advanced manufacturing techniques

ii. Automation combined with advanced  manufacturing technology

iii. Sequence Planning, Process Planning, Shop Floor Layout generation for robotic applications 

iv. Offline / On-line sequence execution techniques for robotics

v. Monitoring & Virtual simulation generation for sequences 

Robotics Pick and Place Cell – Material Handling Application 

The pick and place robotic cell introduces students to the robotic material handling application. The students will get to learn and understand: 

i. About industrial robots and their applications

ii. About a robotic cell

a. Layout and robot placement

iii. Robotics Programming

a. Teach Pendant Programming

b. Off-Line Programming

iv. Material handling application using robots (Pick and Place) 

Robotic Arc Welding Cell – MIG/ ALUMINIUM Welding& PLAZMA Cutting Application 

The arc welding robotic cell introduces students to the robotic MIG/ ALUMINIUM Welding & PLAZMA Cutting application. It helps them understand:  

i. Industrial robots and their applications

ii. A robotic cell

iii. Robotics Programming

a. Teach Pendant Programming

b. Off-Line Programming

iv. Arc welding application using robots

a. Rake angle/ Approach angle

b. Arc On/ Arc Off
